This is a self portrait done using mixed media created for the 'Art for Art Sake' Contest [link]
MEDIA: 8B to 5H pencils, dark charcoal, acrylic paints applied with a small pin, blend stump for very small smudging and a putty rubber
This piece has alot of personal meaning behind it. It shows how my love and knowledge of art has developed or growing over time. The older I get the more and more I love creating art. This is shown through the branches growing out of my clothes and me. The blazing leaf is my goals which is someday to be a world famous illustrator. Thats why I made so strong and firey in colour to show my passion. I wanted to show a connection between me and the passion so thats why I chose colours that were similar.
This was drawn from a photo ref of me and two photos of a leaf and a twig to give me a rough idea how to draw the textures to give the most realistic look I could get.
When I scanned this image in it turned out very very light so I had to adjust the lvls and sharpness to match the origional a perfect as possible.
UPDATE: I came 4th place in the sake of art contest which is great!!! there was such brilliant art entered I didn't think i was going to get anywhere near that. So im pleased.
just beautiful!!!! you're amazing!!! I love how you did that shiny leaf!!!

Through the darkness, to the end of the world, I think of you. On the reverse side of my eyelids, why is it the one who is always running away you? プラ
Wow! What a result! I've been watching the wip's of this, and I'm amazed with what you've pulled off in the final product, though it seems quite on-par for someone of your skills. You mixed the different media well - it makes me wish I could see it in person.
Good luck in the contest! ^_^

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
