Custos Regius: Royal Guardian
The winter has arrived, All the flowers have died, The fellow bees are in rest, But I'm still alive, To guard the royal queens treasure, Forever... and Ever... This is a traditional / digital painting I have been working on for a college project. (now you know what I been busy working on lol!) This one project out of 5 others was to create an illustration based on a saying ot quote. (I chose mind your own bees wax.) Not all of you may have heard of this saying cause it was relevant to old Britain. It nowdays means "Mind your own Buisness" But it origionally was related to the illness small pox in old Britain. People use to think that bees wax in your pockets would stop the illness, however in summer the wax would melt therefore, this saying was created. I decided not to use its trad meaning and make my own one up based on my first thoughts when I heard this saying. This set of illustrations tells a poem/ story about a bee knight who guards the royal bee treasure (beeswax) whilst all the bees are asleep for the winter. (i didn't inclused the text on it yet cause I wanted you all to see the un-soiled version lol. MEDIA USED: Watercolour Paints, White Acrylic, Black Biro, Black Gel Pen, Coloured Pencils, Pencils (6B to 4H), Coptail Sticks, Photoshop CS3 and Corel Painter X Lastly I will also be entering this piece into  's contest. It's just a deliberate malapropism of 'mind your own business' that somehow caught on so long ago nobody really knows where it came from or why.
Also, pretty creative and unconventional interpretation of the phrase!
